Synchronopedia
Corp. is a Toronto-based private company, founded on November 1st, 2000 to
develop and bring to the global market high-quality reference wall charts which
present interesting information in a "synchronous
chronological encyclopedic" graphical form.
What is a Synchronopedia?
(phonetically pronounced:
sin-crow-no-pee-dee-ah)
Synchronopedia is a "word"
that was created by contracting the words synchronous,
chronological and encyclopedia. These three words represent the
essence of the company's mission statement and define the basis of its products.
We believe that
the history of "anything" can be much more interesting and better
understood if the topical historical events are presented in an obvious visual
way, relative to each other. We map popular topics and events such as famous
people, major conflicts and major world events, to the specific chart topic
events.
Using
the Company's first product "Firsts" in Science and Technology
wall chart as an example, while Napoleon I of France was conquering Europe at the turn of the 19th century
(see "World Events" category at the top of the chart), what discoveries
in medicine were taking place? What new technologies were being developed or
invented?
This
is the premise of the words synchronous and chronology. The encyclopedic
aspect is an extension of the time chart whereby each time chart entry has
associated details, photos, illustrations, etc. This is the future direction
towards which the Company is headed. The Company hopes one day to evolve the
time charts themselves into a graphical index of an encyclopedia.
Synchronopedia
announced the launch of its Web site in early May 2001. We
accept online credit card, telephone, fax, email, postal mail and purchase
orders.
Thank you for your
interest in Synchronopedia and we hope our synchronopedic wall chart not only brings you
enjoyment, but also challenges and stimulates you to investigate history from an
entirely new perspective.
